Issues

  • Land Space- biofuels are made from crops and plants. If it becomes a main source of fuel, there will not be enough land.

  • Poisonous Gases- even though biofuels help the environment, their productions emit a harmful toxin named nitrous oxide, which increases greenhouse gases, and is something we already want to stop.

  • Changes for people- a change from gasoline to biofuels will cost money and take time. People will have to buy new and more expensive vehicles, some may even disagree to this which will cause problems in the society.

  • No benefits in money- many researchers believe that producing biofuels will use more energy than our today fuels do.

  • Big change to animals and other organisms- plants will be used for biofuels,so the animals will experience a change of their habitats.

Advantages

  • Environment friendly- they do not harm our environment.

  • Inexpensive- they are easy to afford and are cheaper than regular fossil fuels.

  • Variety- they are a renewable source for many things.

  • Reduces price that were used to make the fuel and make the money go to other important uses.

  • Reduce Dependance on Foreign Oil- While locally grown crops has reduced the nation’s dependance on fossil fuels, many experts believe that it will take a long time to solve our energy needs.
